If you are looking for unusual Lugers in movies, rent or buy "Flame and Citron", about the Danish Resistance during WW2.

Citron, who slowly becomes the group's assassin, shoots his adversaries with a Navy Luger!!

Hello Everybody

I watched the "War Horse" movie as well. I thought it was great. One of the reasons the movie was so accurate is that Peter Jackson (of "Lord of the Rings" fame),is a serious collector of WW1 items. I understand he has a huge collection of items from WW1,which includes vehicles and artillery.
His Wingnut Films worked on the movie and he supplied many original items.
If any of you gents enjoy building scale models checkout http://www.wingnutwings.com
His scale models of WW1 aircraft are great.:)

Haven't been posting lately. I recently had open heart surgery and have been slowly recovering. It caused some nerve damage,so typing was problematical for awhile.
Good to be back.

Bob

Great movie, you know when Speilberg makes a war movie he will do it right.

On January 20 we will get another opportunity to see some more WW2 history as Gerorge Lucas has a movie coming out called Red Tails. It is about the Tuskegee airman. The previews look fantastic!

cirelaw 01-09-2012 08:57 PM

You can watch the theacture trailer now on 'YouTube' Its great!!!

minigun 01-09-2012 09:37 PM

The scenes look really good on Red Tails, but I worry it will be more of an injustice type movie with the racial tension stuff. Probably skip that one as I just don't want to sit through all that. This stuff killed "Hart's war" for me.

Mwland 01-09-2012 11:08 PM

Understand your point, Lucas says it is addressed, but not the overall focus. The air battle scenes are supposed to be the best ever, I am just glad the continue to make movies about WW2!

minigun 01-10-2012 01:21 AM

I think I saw an ME 262 in some of the dogfight scenes.

alanint 01-10-2012 06:34 AM

Nice as they were, the air battles still look "drawn" to my eye. Very well drawn, indeed, but still not "real".

CGI still lacks a depth and quality of image that a real scene will always have.

I went to see war horse on christmas day, i like to get there early and sit in the back, easier to get out fast. to me it ran rather long but the point being the relationship of the horse and the boy who raised him. the battle scenes were brutal, but that type of battle certianly was. Having been under fire before and the morter and artillary fire began to get to me, i had to step out a time or two. Actualy i just wanted it to be over. While standing outside and looking in the door and another gentleman came out and looked at me and said "you to huh?" takes one to know one i guess. That being said, it does not leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling. Next time i think i will wait for the dvd.

I thanked God I was born in 1956 Too you and Too old in another! I pray every day for all these who served and will serve. Enlisting these days seem more attractive. Before I die or suffer another event, I want to visit the Wall in our Capital. My mother before her death while I was in the first year at Villanova Law School My Mom worked the Navy N.A.V.I.L.C.O. in Philadelphia. She sold f14 And Rathein missles to Iran, Japan and Turkey. She missed being a hostage in Tehran by three week. Several friends of her became hostages. So how she harbored guild until Her untimly death just 2 years later. I've learned to treat every hug and kiss as it might be your last. Had to get that off my chest!

Outstanding, sometime it is not easy to share things. this i know too well. Warhorse was a movie about war, it brought out the truth about it, you do not win , you survive. my avitar picture is called twilight prayer, taken of me in the fading light near high island texas by ms Jacquie wingate, her self a disable veteran and award winning photographer, once i saw it i was moved, your taking the time to share just maybe what you needed to do at this moment in time, my best regards Padre

We can never thank our veterans enough. My wife's cousin recently made the ultimate sacrifice for us, he leaves a wife and 3 children under 10. I work in an environment where I see Vets from all wars. Every opportunity i get I look them in the eye and thank them.

cirelaw 02-18-2012 12:45 PM

During college break I drove a forklift for Sherwin Williams' paints, There was one vet that any loud noice who set him off. He would jump up screaming reliveing it over and over, especially while he was naping!!
