OK. I'm now able to do this. Mike C.'s explanation was a big help. The video on the page FNorm referred me to, entitled "How to manually lower the striker on a Luger P08 pistol" was also very helpful.

To me, the best part is the "journey". Taking time to learn about this wonderful device and discovering the ins and outs of how it works is the fun part. That and the fact that I actually have one to play with is a source of joy after a long day's work.

As an aside, I'm also into German cars...pretty much for the same reasons.
