Hugh-grip repair
 

Hugh, I have done some stock repair on one of my rifles, had to move the bolt relief about 1/2" on a replacement stock. I found that by sanding some wood from inside the stock and mixing the dust with a clear glue such a Elmers or even model airplane cement and then filling the unwanted area with it I could get an almost unnoticeable repair after sanding and finishing. You might experiment with this method as you will be using the original wood for the repair and the colors should match.

I have been doing the safety chip repair for years. Usually not detectable unless one has been told to look for it with the $600 surgeons glasses. See Multi National pistol book page 79 bottom of page. When this picture was taken--safety chip had been poorly reglued. Owner later accidentally knocked off original chip and lost it. I repaired the chipped area in 1995 and owner said it looked much better than poorly glued original chip which was in photograph. It can be done. No-- I am not looking for work.

Actually the "Big Bertha" was a 210mm or 8.26 inch gun. The distance from the firing point to Paris was approximatly 75 miles. The gun hit Paris and the surrounding suburbs 367 times before the gun`s position was over run by the Allies."Big Bertha" was transported by rail, but placed on a fixed turntable for firing. After the war, the Germans cut up the gun and no trace was ever found by the Allied Armistice Commission. In WW2 the Germans did have a 800mm railgun, named "Dora" that had a range of 29 miles. It had a recoil action with almost 30 feet of travel. There was also a railway gun with a range of 38 miles. It was a 280mm gun.

Since you have a scanner, did it come with a photo works program? My scanner came with a program that allows you to edit and resize photos. Thanks for the contibutions though. They are appreciated at any size.
