'www.landofborchardt.com' is a favorite source of this unique specimen and other early pieces.

That would be my bid.

The gunsmith number (256) 259-2693 that is listed in the Borchardt ad, appears to belong to Heather Rice, 218 Green St, Scottsboro, AL 35769-3224. I am contacting the seller to clear this matter.

Item is sold.

Did he end the auction early I thought it had a couple of days left?

Either someone offered more money and they ended it early or something fishy going on?

As that is not correct ending times for an auction ;) (besides the lack of days) It would ahve a later time than the start, NOT an earlier time...

$12,370.00 is way too rich for my blood... :(

Mike - Was that your winning bid??? What did you find out???

alanint 07-25-2010 12:14 PM

Anybody want to bet this gun never changes hands?
It sound like the ol' "get a friend to bid it up until it's stratospheric and any legitimate buyers drop out. Then when you really want to sell it, the ad reads "last sold on Gunbroker for $XXXX"

sheepherder 07-25-2010 01:05 PM

The last Borchardt auction I followed (and bid on) went for ~$9000, IIRC...Alvin had a thread w/link to it...Can't find it now... :(

I dropped out at about $2700, IIRC... :p

I think the seller owes a percentage of the final sale price to Gunbroker. I beleive it is 3%. He can't just tell Gunbroker I ended the aution, and didn't sell it.
