Guys, As far as I'm concerned, a newbee is someone who hasn't been collecting lugers for at least 20 years. So what I see (and my picture is'nt too clear) is a long frame M06 Barreled receiver with no detectable Navy proofing, on a short PO8 frame without grip safety. And as previouly stated, reblued with possible replacement grips. Tom H.

Ok :)lemme try again

I just noticed it has the old model barrel extension. The frame doesn't come to the end of the rails etc. And it still has that non-regulation chip. I'll bet it would take out an armadillo at 100 or 200 meters.

Anzerz :D

Craig; Much better this time! It has the old model long frame cannon on a new model short frame, therefore no date on the front sight base. The rear sight ears have been ground down. These were the two answers I was looking for. Also has a relieved sear bar, which could be correct for the frame, but not the cannon it is on. No strawed parts, incorrect magazine. However, the grips are not chipped, that is just the picture, they look black because of age; they are wood and numbered to the frame.

If anyone has a new model Navy cannon to fit this frame, or an old model Navy frame to fit this cannon, that they want to sell or trade, email me, as you can see I need one!

Tom, if your picture was clearer, you could see that it is a correctly proofed Navy cannon, and that there is a "1917" date stamp on the frame just below them. You dont have a frame to match my cannon or a cannon to match my frame do you?

Sorry Hugh, Tough items to find, but I'll keep your needs on file. Tom

Good Quiz

Hugh,

I would like to make a copy of this picture to present to some "expert" collectors. Can you put it someplace so that a guy with only an old imagewriter on a Mac can get at it. Maybe e-mail iyt to me. I will try to find someone with a color printer but it may take some time. I don't know too many people with brand x computers. Good Quiz!

Big Norm

Newbie Ad Yeaman here. I haven't peeked at the string or looked at the books; but don't the "navies" have: (1) ramped sights and (2) longer barrels? Do I win anything (boobie prize, maybe?) Now I'll go to the string and books.
