Thanks for your posts.
Yes I (hope I) have all infos I need. Now I'm waiting for the rigt one. |
The website www.babelfish.altavista.com is pretty good for German. Not very good, just pretty good. You still need to know something about the langauge to get a realiable translation. Avoid idioms and other irregular expressions. The German language also has a few characters that are not use in English. A raw translation is below.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't these letter beeing faded out these days?
Translated they would be ¤=ae ,¼=ue, ¶=oe and ?=ss ..and for those with special interests.. the norwegian ¥=aa, ¦=ae and ¸=oe I notice that some people write L¼ger. Hmm.. Loeger, L¸ger.. all strange to me, so is this thread btw;) |
@ Morgan Kane
this letters (?, ?, ?, ?) still in use. But not every computer or system can use this letters, so you can also write AE, OE, UE and SS. But usually you write it, if its possible on the normal way (?,?,?,?). If someone write L¼ger, it has nothing to do with this letter(s), becouse there is only an U in Luger, so this can be an typing error or someone means a other Luger btw L¼ger. What you write about the norwegian, I don't know anything about this, so I can't say anthing about this. |
I'm still looking for a Luger.
It's really very very hard to find one in our lines of latitude. I think in the USA are more in an interesting condition and special types. Maybe one of the experts here in the forum has one and is willing to send them to Europe? |
KGR84, are you aware of Hermann Historica in Munich? They frequently have auctions including all kinds of Lugers. All you have to worry about is how to import it from Germany to Austria.

KGR, you are lucky that one of the best books on the Luger was published in German!!
Your first purchasse should be 'Die Pistole 08 von Joachim Goertz'. Many of them can be found on German ebay (ebay.de). This book will answer many of your questions! |
