Re: My Conclusion.....

Hi Mark,

I canâ??t say that I think you made the right decision, as Iâ??m far from sure there is a â??rightâ? decision. OTOH, I will say that we made the same decision ;-)

Best regards,

Kyrie

P.S. I especially enjoyed your comparison to swords. It gave me the delightful image of someone whipping out his Kar98k bayonet to carve the Thanksgiving turkey [chortle!]

Hmmmm... Now there's a thought...

There's a new use for my Japanese Samurai Katakana that sits on the wall unit.... Here turkey, turkey, turkey... BONZAI!!!

Hey Kyrie!

Remind me not to come to your house for Thanksgiving! (hey, this turkey tastes like WD-40!) ;-)

Mark

Hi Mark,

No, thatâ??s the taste of Hoppeâ??s Gun oil ;-)

But seriously, I grew up chewing Sunday chicken, Thanksgiving turkey, and Christmas goose very carefully. Chilled shot can do a number on the chompers!

Best regards,

Kyrie

Re: My Conclusion.....

Having cut a cake at a dinner party here with a First Issue Luftwaffe dagger, I fail to see the validity of the comparison

The only collector guns of mine that I don't shoot, are those that came to me unfired.

The others will all get around 20 rounds of fine ammo run through them each year, just to make them,(and me), happy.

I have never broken any parts on a Luger. Not while shooting, cleaning, or fondling it. Maybe just luck, but this has never happened to me in 30-35 years of playing with them.

Again, just two cents worth. Enjoy that S/42, any way you like

Re: ok Luger guys (& girls), opinions please...

I have fired all my lugers, but as I now have several I don't shoot the good ones much. Just makes sense.

I had an Erfurt that the safety lever snapped off when I engaged it. I also dropped a 1910 and shattered the magazine bottom into a zillion pieces.

You should do as you please with your piece, but remember-

"If youre gonna be stupid, you better be tough."

It is really amazing on the "Tales of the Gun" when they drag out those one of a kind pieces and blaze away.

I have one of those......but it's a bear to clean the frosting out of the serrated side of the blade

Re: ok Luger guys (& girls), opinions please...

I have a very similar Luger which is fired regularly.I also have a 100% new WW1 .45 which appears to be unfired, and am so tempted to shoot it, I might have to sell or trade it for a shooter. It came complete with the original pistol belt with 1918 ammo in it,photos and commission of the original GI to whom it was issued.Must have been in the locker for his entire service!
