Please forgive my ignorance - what is the "recoil lug"?

Ron Wood 12-23-2005 06:34 PM

The recoil lug is the projection on the bottom of the receiver below the chamber. Its purpose is to halt the rearward travel of the barrel receiver group during recoil.

I just opened my all-matching 1900 AE #10846. Two digits everywhere (including both grips) EXCEPT the recoil lug, which has three digits. No "flaming bomb" forward of the lug, but a stamped mark that could be either a triange or an uppercase "V". If there is any other info you would like on this gun (or on my all-matching 1920 Commercial #753 script l) for databases, please ask.

Dave,

Why, funny you should ask!

On the 1900--any proofs? narrow or wide grip safety? Type 2 or 3 shumb safety lever? GERMANY marked?

On the Alphabet Commercial--GERMANY or MADE IN GERMANY (or nothing)? c/N proof? upright?

Thanks much for the offer and info.

Dwight -

Fill me in on the Type 1, 2 & 3 safety levers, and I'll try to get the rest tomorow.

Also let me know if there is a better place/method for this conversation than as a hijack of Ron's thread!

Dwight Gruber 12-24-2005 01:14 AM

Dave,

Email me dwightg@pacifier.com and we'll go from there.
