He's trying to make a lot out of having a low serial number. In 1917 there were 14 DWM Lugers with the serial# 3, ranging from no-suffix to n . Only the no-suffix gun would merit a premium, and only a sawbuck or three at that. He' also trying to make something out of having a matching magazine. From the photograph I am suspicious that it might be an old commercial magazine that has been stamped with a 3 . So what I am saying is that I would only want to pay $700-$800 for such a Luger, but recognize that it might reasonably expect to be sold for $1k or so in today's online auction environment. --Dwight |
