I once attempted to ship a pistol via Fed Ex at a Mail Boxes Etc store. They gave me the same crap Thor got. I went home, called the toll free Fed Ex phone number and had them pick it up. Ever since then I do the same but now by internet which yields a discount.

You must deal with Fed Ex directly and not some paranoid franchisee. You can also ship US Mail as long as your postmaster isn't a dickhead.
