Hey Pete,
The Ates marked extractors have a slightly different face and undercut then HK extractors and appear to be either Simson or Mauser, and therefore were not numbered/proofed as other HK production from that series. The slightly fatter grips which I was referring to appeared the HK "G" dates, a few Early S and these same Turkish Lugers - and also appear to be of original Simson manufacture. Other early S (through some Mid S examples) have a flatter "surface", which follow the Krieghoff pattern as described in Gibson, and are the predominient grip type for those variations. For those that have these "Simson type" grips - some folks refer to these as "fat grips" in their description... Best to you!!! John D. |
