 You must be mad! Mad!  Definitely get the pair! Like Bill says, you can always sell the byf. In fact, make a big deal of showing the pair to your wife, explain how rare it is to have a matching serial pair, and let her convince you to sell the byf. She'll be satisfied that you're happy to compromise and you'll have a really neat addition to your collection. Marital harmony is achieved and everyone is happy.
