I'm always awed by couples that stay married for 25+ years. I'm naturally a student of Human Nature, and wish I'd have pursued a career dealing in Aberrant/Criminal Psych, ... Fascinating.
As a child, I always thought "some day, ... I'll find the perfect one". Somewhere in this big world the 'Perfect One" waits, ... I'm just never gonna find her at my age anymore. I was married once (1983) for 10 yrs. Good for the first 5, not much the last 5. I would have never asked for the divorce, as we had a 5 yr old Daughter. It was my Wife's idea, saying; "wouldn't it be nice to be with someone you loved ?". Her next comment was; "I thought that you were going to change over the years !". That statement IS all telling about the differences between men and women IMHO. As a man, I want the person I fall in love with to stay as true to that initial character so my love will remain strong. Women on the other hand, (IMHO) see a man as malleable, changeable, adaptable somehow. We all change with time, some slower, some faster. I still wonder what I'm gonna be, ... when I grow up. |
