Sir Peter Jackson (he was knighted a few years back) is a great enthusiast and collector of all things to do with the Great War. Internationally of course he is known for the Lord of the Rings movies, but at home here in NZ the work of his studios in Wellington are always in the news.
"They shall not grow old" is a collaboration between his digital special effects company and the film archive of the Imperial War Museum in London. I understand that they made great efforts to authenticate the video and audio restoration of the film. Sir Peter staged a major display of artifacts and film from the 1st World War at our NZ national museum from 2014 till 2018 to mark the centenary and all the items were from his own collection. He also has a vintage aviation company, here in NZ, which specialises in the restoration of World War 1 aircraft and the construction of exact replicas. The replicas include a Sopwith Camel and a Fokker tri-plane and they regularly appear at airshows. Mark Last edited by Mark1; 02-18-2019 at 05:03 PM. Reason: typo |

Peter Jackson has sure come a long way, a truly self made man in the movie industry. I have been a fan ever since I saw "Bad Taste" about 30 years ago, so I can't wait to see the WWI movie. A "Bad Taste II" would probably be a hit as well, now when he has the resources to go all out.
