I believe it was likely "re-worked" by the Berlin TP, using Simson made parts.
I doubt Simson had anything to do with the work; as the TP stamp began to be used in 1934, by time which Simson was out of favor. JMHO.

Whoever did the work, it is a nice police luger and the extra mag is for sure a plus, along with the holster , making the $1700 a good price.

There is a lot of fluff and mis-information in the write up/ description though.
What he says about the grips being "Simson proofed" is silly, the S/42 and the gothic "S" are Mauser markings and the grips were not made or inspected by Simson. The marking on the barrel is TP not TPV as he states, and the eagle is is Weimar firing proof- and not the typical Simson firing proof eagle. The barrel was an inspected spare, installed in or after 1934. Neither the TP or PTV are rare or even scarce, again all based on
published info by three or four well known authors.

I agree with Don. The gun was originally an LP08. It was rebarreled by the TP in 1934 or later using a barrel which had been purchased from Simson earlier. The 2 on the bottom of the barrel probably indicates its' manufacture in 1922 by Simson. The gun was probably issued to the Gemeindepolizei. There are a number of similar examples. This type of rework of LP08s was also done in 1929-30 to arm the Landjägerei.
