I agree with Don. Something more like a short lug layered cannon breech lock would have been much more robust:
A slightly shorter striker with a thicker multi-lug support in the spring guide would have been a better design. Alas, we were not in the design meetings with Georg... The ejector spring must have been complex to manufacture. We know that it was hardened prior to strawing. I wonder if the forward triangular ejector tab and mount were extruded from a single stock piece of metal? Here's the patent. DRP 227078

The Manufacture Française d'Armes & Cycles de St. Etienne retailer marked pistols are standard New Model Parabellums in every way, including the GELADEN extractor mark.

Mario - glad you enjoyed my minor joke... We do seem to regularly interchange the terms, while still knowing exactly what we are really talking about.
Oops... this was a Gershwin song! Cole Porter was known for playing piano and singing at private parties where he regularly replaced the published lyrics of songs with things that frankly could not be published... Oh... and I do think that the weakest part of a Luger is the owner, since I keep buying the darn things...

So, many of those songs and movies (some of them I have in my DVD collection*) have a special flavour to me. * Yup! Collecting is sort of a desease I got.
