The barrel is marked "GERMANY" because it was shipped as a seperate part.

that is even better, as that means it was made and ordered from Germany not added here.

No, just the opposite. The barrel and pistol were shipped
separately. Just like the 1920s magazines marked "GERMANY", they were so marked because they were separate when shipped. All singular items had to be marked with country of origin.
