While a complete product can be patented, there are many more patents on specific design details and features of Lugers.
Many of these products were the result of refinement over many decades. The "S" shaped flat spring gave way to the coil spring. You can get some idea of patent activity by taking a look at the German patent office website: https://depatisnet.dpma.de/DepatisNe...ion=einsteiger Try searching Applicant/Owner.Inventor "Georg Luger" and look at the patents starting in "GB" or "US" to read English version documents. When you click on the "PDF" symbol, you'll see the first page of the patent. Click on "Load full document" in the upper right to get the entire patent, including the graphics. Marc
