Restaurants abroad tend to "modify" a bit their menus according to the taste of the Country they work, I've noticed this several times in Japanese restaurants, but as an example menus of Indian restaurants in Britain are quite different from the ones they offer here in Italy. So, in other words if you want to taste real original Italian food you should come to Italy and you'll discover that every region has got his own dishes, as the South of Italy was first colonized by Ancient Greece, then all the Country was dominated by the Romans, then for centuries after was invaded by dozens of foreign populations coming from Central Europe. The Italian People in fact is not that homogeneous at all and every region has got different habits and dishes, but everywhere you go you'll find the love for good cooking.
