The beauty of it is that it's an entirely reversible process, so if you don't like it you simply remove it.

I have done it on a few guns, but I'm not a great fan of it. It's nice if you want to show interesting and/or unusual stamps, and it can look pretty tasteful on guns that don't have many stamps (like Lugers). It can be a bit overwhelming if you overdo it though. For example: Import stamps should not be filled.
