Heat Wave 2014

Goodness, I'm not envying you.
I would say that I suffer more in Summer than in Winter, but I've reached the point when I'm starting to think that I can't stand neither Summer heat nor the cold days of January ... :-)

Well according to an old sayng here in Italy the coldest days of the year are supposed to be the so called "i giorni della merla" (the days of the hen-blackbird) i.e. the last three days of January, in fact according to a legend the blackbird used to be white, then in those cold days she went on top of a chimney to look for some warmth and since then she became black.

Cool legend! There's a parable about a bird migrating South that gets caught in a snowstorm...I'll have to look it up...

Buffalo & southtowns got 2 to 3 feet of snow on top of blowing drifting snow...One city controller in Hamburg actually pulled the snowplows off the streets last night...I guess they got tired of getting lost & plowing empty fields...

Buffalo Airport was closed; all flights cancelled...My mailgirl hasn't shown up yet, I'm wondering if mail delivery was cancelled today...

I've never been to Italy; like to go someday...And Spain and Portugal too...
