Hi rhuff and lfid..!!!

Lfid - many thanks for the assist! Yep, I was going to suggest that first, that Richard tries clearing his browser cache and give it another try.. BUT - as well, he's using Windows 8, so that might not be the answer (hopefully it is, though)... In Windows 8 - there is a root certificate optional update, which - if clearing your cache doesn't work, I'll have you try next...

Again - my best always - and my thanks!

John

Please bear with me, as I am nearly computer illiterate.

I removed the link from my favorites list, and then used Google and typed in"Luger Forum". I clicked on the Google link and it brought me to the facepage of the Luger forum with NO notice of security certificate errors. I was thinking that maybe I was on to something......spoke too soon. I added the link/address back to my favorite list and gave it a try, and it was back just like it has been with the warning. Drat!!

If I go through Google, then no problem, but if I use my Favorite list....bingo. The caution allows me entrance into the site, and I can remove the warning by clicking on "display blocked content".

Does any of this make sense to you John? Sorry to be so stupid, but maybe age is a factor....Nah!!

It certainly does make sense.... And - as it is happening on other sites for you too....

OK... If you are willing, let's try this... As you are running IE 8...
  • Open Internet Explorer - and CLICK ON THIS LINK: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
  • Next select CUSTOM and scan
  • If a Root Certificates update is listed (possibly in the Optional Software updates category on the left-hand side of the scan results window), install it...

As well - it *could be* that you have some other AV program on your computer, which is still held in your browser sessions - BUT - we'll get to that in a while, OK??

Best to you!

John,

I did as you suggested and checked for any regular updates(none needed) then to the custom scan and looked in the software updates and found one concerning security certificates. I installed that software, restarted my computer, to no avail. I really thought that you had hit a home run.

I have set my computer where all of the day's history is deleted when I close it down. Also, Norton does a "cleanup" approx. every 20-30 days.

I really feel guilty taking you folks time with my computer glitch. As I stated, it does not stop me from entering the website, just is a "pain" being there on the sites that I frequent, but not all of the sites

Thank you for all of your help.

Richard
