Default Re: Post War P.38/Bills American Eagle

Are you suggesting that a P.38 would be allowed in the competition with a Luger? ;-) Somehow I think that the final result on paper is due a lot to the person who is shooting the pistol. I have to admit the target that accompanied my Eagle when I got it back was almost as impressive as the overall appearance of the pistol. I can never explain how totally pleased I was to get that beauty back and be able to look at the test target and actually hold and admire that pistol. Think about this..A totally restored 1906 American Eagle by Ted Green, custom checkered smooth edge grips in Cocobolo wood by Hugh Clark, and custom matching Cocobolo wood magazine bottoms by GT..and a 'dead on' test target to show the accuracy of the pistol. Somehow I don't think it gets too much better than that. (Ok, I admit it, I have a weak spot in my heart for the P.38s..I can't deny it. I also think that a shooting match (complete with a Lugerforum trophy) would be something that dreams are made of. Of course that would require a lot of loading bench and range time well in advance and a few trips to the optometrist. There is nothing that can't be done, though. I think I have read of Luger target matches that Georg Luger was actually involved in (I have seen the actual postcard that is pictured in Datig's 'The Luger Pistol' that has a charicature of Georg in a Tyrolean hat aiming (what looks like) a baby Luger. Let's talk about it. The only thing more fun than shooting is shooting with someone.
