You posted your photos while I was typing. You do indeed have a 1908 First Issue and so far it looks like a nice one.

8.R.8.2

The "R" is a sort of fancy script almost twice as high as the two "8"s. The "2" is about half the size of the "8"s.

The first marking is clearly an "8".
