Looks like a nice honest Luger to me. Congratulations! Don't know what you paid but I'm thinking it was a good deal.
BTW the magazine you show is 6047"s" and not "b" Would be correct for a S/42 1937. I have 6902s close but no cigar. Bob |

Thanks Bob, I thought I was reading the script right. Oops! they do say picture is worth a thousand words.
Doug, thanks for the guidance on this. I saw it and the matching numbers and pretty much figured even with the cracked grip I would probably be ok. Marc, I spent quite a few hours researching right here on the forum "cramming for finals" so to speak and I saw a fair number of threads with dead linked photos. That is frustrating for archive purposes. so is it ok to carve some SS runes into it? I kid I kid. Hefting this I forgot how well the balance and point with the weight more in your grip. yeah, Doug I probably need a WWI vintage shooter grade. I did get your PM over there too.

The magazine S/N 6047s would have been shipped with a 1939 Code 42. The clue is the size of the Waffenamt Mark. The SE/63 had three sizes. The small SE/63 is found on 1937 S/42 Lugers. The mid-size and large are found on 1939 Lugers.
The one pictured is of the large variety! |

yeah I didn't need the 10x loupe for that one.
![]() I was using the loupe on the stamped mark on the grips. I couldn't make it out much that way. I got a much better look with the macro setting and the camera. Now that Marc told me what I'm looking at I can now see the E in there. |
