Let me open this up to any member who has computer graphic skills--- I would welcome submissions from members on what they think Lugerforum Patch (version 3) might look like.

Jerry, thanks for your input suggestion on the position of the pistols on the patch.

As for the history of the original patch... The concept of the patch was Ted Green's original idea as I recall.

I expanded on his concept by creating the original artwork from actual photographs of a byf 41 with bakelite grips and a 1937 Krieghoff with wooden grips.

I used two pistols for symmetry and placed them muzzle up so that they wouldn't be pointing at the wearer's head (at the suggestion of one of the original 8 members of the board of directors).

The original patch was intended to be worn on hats, but many thought it should also be suitable for use on a gentleman's blazer jacket.

Patch version 1 had a blue background. The contract for production of this patch was investigated and arranged by a volunteer member whose screen name was EOC-Bob. The original order was also financed by generous donations by members of the original board of directors.

Hugh Clark generously volunteered to be the point of contact for Patch sales. Sales of the first patch were brisk and they almost sold out within a few months. Then some time later, new members starting inquiring about purchasing a patch and the demand became great enough that we did it a.second time.
At the suggestion of members, Patch version 2 had a yellow background to provide more contrast with the pistol graphics.

Sales of Patch #2 started lively but eventually slowed down and a number of patches went unpurchased until just recently when Hugh sold out the remaining stocks.

Perhaps a fresh design will spark interest to allow for creation of a new patch.

So all you graphic artist/Luger enthusiasts out there crank up your image software and submit a proposed design in this thread!

When we get a few, we'll post a poll and find out what the favorite design is and gather the level of interest for the quantity to be produced and go from there.

And now for a Lugerforum history trivia question:

Who can name ALL of the original 8 members of the board of directors who guided the direction & growth of our forum to what it is Today?

(A hint-John D. is the owner of the assets and name of this forum and through whose generosity made the Lugerforum possible. He worked with the board. & took their suggestions to create this organization. He was the "Decider" to quote George W. Bush, the Chairman if you will, but he was not a member of the board). Members of the board are not eligible to post answers!

I will give it a day or two for your guesses and then reveal their identities...

Not trying to stir up any controversy...But I don't wear a hat/cap, and while a blazer would be nice, I don't wear those either...

...But I have dozens of T-shirts...Computer related; weapons related; military related; automotive; Canine Rescue...

I even have several Internet Forum T-shirts...

I'm not suggesting some big full-chest graphic...Maybe just a small 3" or 4" logo over the left breast...Cafe press does reasonably priced small-order T-shirts...

...Or polo/golf shirts for shows...
