Yes, use your nose. Old German leather usually has a faint, unmistakable odor. Old Turkish leather, on the other hand, often has an odor such that you need to open the windows for a while and leave the offending item outside for a week to air out. And new holsters smell like new holsters.
New, original looking markings on an old original holster are an entirely different subject. |
