I like to take most of my 100yd shots from the standing, no rest, with my 4 Luger. Of course I don't hit my target everytime, but darn close. Thats the fun of it.

Lots depends on your pistol shooting skills. 100yd pistol shooting takes a fair amount of discipline. I use to do a lot of handgun silhouette shooting out to 200 meters. Here we were using long barrel handguns, but the same principles apply.


A good (proper) grip to the gun.

Front sight is the most important thing to focus on.

Even trigger pull straight back.

Let your mind break the shot and follow through.

If you help it, sure to be a miss.

A good set of eyes and a no wind day helps.


Best to shoot at something where you can see the impact. This way you can adjust your point of aim. A soda can on a dirt bank works best. Shooting paper at a 100yds can be depressing. Show all the bad shots you would like to forget about.....
