Your grandfather's Luger is marked to Infantry Regt.419 7th Kompany weapon number 17.

J was used a an infantry designator so as not be confused with roman numeral 1.

Unit marked 1918 Lugers are hard to find. Can you post some photos?

Thank you so much. I will post pictures as soon as I get home latter today. Are the 1918 Luger's hard to find with millitary markings cause that was the year the war ended?
