Norm, You only want to drill the hole in the wood base if no hole is already present, as with GT's new wood bottoms. If their is already an existing hole, by elongating it, you will have a very hard time getting the retaining pin to go in straight. Sometimes a touch with a small round file may be necessary to remove a bit of wood blocking the hole in the tube, but I would not drill it out. Tom h
