Hi, Although a 1940 42 is a very common variation, the Black Widow grips are seldom found on 1940s. On the down side, the finish is thinning, particularly on the grip straps, and it's too bad that someone took a file to that rear sight (keen eyes Alan).
I think that $1,500.00 would be on the high side for this gun, and $1,00.00 too low. If you and your relative settle on $1,250.00, I think it would be fair to both of you. Regards, Norm
