I have been using the foaming bore clean by Breakfree for awhile. Seems to work pretty good.Easy to use and no damage to the bore. I think chemically it is similar to oven cleaner. Make sure after you use it to wipe down the bore with some oil,as it has no preservative in it. Also keep it away from bluing.
My personal favorite bore cleaning method is a bore snake. Quick,easy to use,works great and you get some exercise! Bob
