Old fashioned moth ball are an excellent deodorizer. Especially for any mold, bacteria. I am not sure of the effect on the leather. I would try the baking sodafirst. If that does not work, put a half dozen mothballs in a shoe box with it, then remove the moth ball oder with another baking soda treatment.
