Why non matching magazines?

Incorrect. There have been lists and efforts to mate magazines and guns for many, many years, even predating the internet. Do a search on this forum and you will find some

Very cool! I stand corrected. What a remarkable set of circumstances it seems it would take to reunite original gun with original magazine or bolt!

I actually FOUND the matching magazine to my Mauser, on Don Hallock's master list, but the owner had passed away, and Don doesn't want collectors bothering the remaining members of the family, so the owner contact information was removed from his database.....So close, yet SO far....
