I am sure the 'Luger' trick was not in the Dustin Hoffman movie 'Marathon Man'. The trick, as described, would work but there would be some serious burns I would imagine. As for a gunsmith taking apart a Luger with a round in the chamber..what a terrible surprise! So far I have been lucky with not having an accidental discharge with a Luger. I can see how it could happen.
