Luger Magazine: Strange Thing

After I posted my earlier message I though that I might suggest that you take the receiver off and insert your empty magazine to see how it reacts with the hold open. I may be that you have a pre-1913 magazine with a smaller, flater button on it in a post 1913 Luger that is not engaging the hold open. This would explain the problems that you are having. Pre-1913 Lugers did not have hold opens so the size of the button did not matter.
