"All matching" doesn't mean "all original"

OK, here is the other side of the coin..? I brought in a Mauser Banner police the other day in excellent condition. A vet's grandson brought it in for his grandmother, as she didn't want it in the house any longer, along with some other bring-back items. The banner was in stunning all original condition (along with the police holster) and everything matched EXCEPT the hold open, which was ONE diget off (26 instead of 27)..

So, what's more important - original or matched?

We collectors are a fickle bunch
