My grandfather had the same issue. He had an interesting pair of shooting glasses which had some extra lenses attached to the frame which allowed him to see the sights and the target. This allowed him to shoot compeditively into his mid-eighties. This was in Swizerland, where shooting is like golf over here, I have no idea if there is an opthomologist in the US who can do the same for you.
