I think the Luger collectors have as bad or worse time with fakery as the K98k collectors. The only thing we can do is buy as many books on the subject and read to learn what is real or possibly faked.

P.S. - I like the K98k also and have several original pieces in 96-98% condition. One is a DOT 44 and the other is a byf 42. I also have one of the Yugo reworked K98k that is my favorite shooter piece.
