Black Widow Grip Opinions

Hi all,

What do you think of these grips? Original?

Some years ago, I took a taxi at night while traveling in a big city in southern China. The charge was about ¥30 (roughly $4 at that time), I paid the driver ¥100 (about $12), and he gave me a ¥50 note back, along with a few smaller bills.

Next morning, I wanted to buy a pack of cigarettes from a nearby small store. I handed that ¥50 note to the cashier, she took it over, looking at it, then returned it back to me, "I don't want this one" .......

I was astonished. A fake? She did not say it's a fake, but she rejected it. Returned back to my room, I compared this note with a few other notes, be honest, I could not see any difference. Shaking it in air, the feeling was same as well. After that, I tried that note at a few places, even including the highway toll station. All of them rejected it. So I carried that note back to home. Even today, I don't know what's wrong with that note, and how could all of them tell it's a fake in a few seconds...

If one day, people could replicate grip to the quality like they replicate money, this world will become more complex. At this moment, no worry.

Look at the photos of original grips in post #1 of this thread on the Jan Still site.

You could also post over there; there are many grip experts specific to this topic.

They don't look original to me.

great for shoot'en!

One of the best sets for shooters... but not Bakelite.. They break pretty easy... some kind of cheesy resin.... But you really get a very good grip with them.......til...lat'r...GT

I like "alvin" answer.
I'm afaid they're not original, but I'm not an expert and I might be wrong.

These grips are definitely NOT original byf grips. They are aftermarket... I am just not sure which aftermarket they are from. Possibly Finland, or one of the eastern Europe countries...

Note the checkering pattern... and then compare it to a known set of Luger BYF bakelite grips. The checkering on these almost reminds me of "goosebumps"... The checkering on original grips is VERY precise and a consistent pattern. The difference is VERY obvious...

...and I concur that these would make great grips for any shooter!

The other giveaway is the lack of threaded holes in the backs of the grip panels...
