Haenel style XXL magazine

Anyone seen one like this before?

It's coming in my direction and I'm not sure what to think of it yet. The magazine is in the Haenel style and is well made, it is not a set of 2 magazines botched together and it has been chrome or nickle plated.

Gerben, I have seen Luger magazines like this in a book...I can't remember which one.

I know the Swiss played with a carbine design that used elongated magazines, but those were different.

I have never seen an extruded magazine this long, but I LIKE it...

Have you fire tested it for function?

John Sabato 04-22-2013 12:46 PM

VLIM, if it is plated, how can you be sure that it is not two FXO types that have been welded together?

How many rounds does it hold?

I also have a lot of questions, and we think the magazine could be built up using parts of as much as 6 magazine tubes in total. The magazine should hold 16 rounds, but the combination of the length, the main spring and the pickyness of the luger when it comes to magazines probably means that it is more of a show piece.

Some years ago some like this where sold on egun , I miss them , but Joop bought one , I think they where a little smaller

Vlim 04-23-2013 09:08 AM

Joop confirmed he has a similar one. They were also being sold at the arms show in Kassel, around 2006.
