you can use a .22 long rifle as a self defensive gun, but obviouslyu not the first choice. It was more stopping power, the US liked the 45, the Germans decided on 9mm instead of 7.65mm.
Always keep in mind, that even if in the right, your pistol will be taken by the police until investigation is over. Far better to use a Mak, or a clone 45 ACP for self defense. Ed
