Vogelsang & Muhlemann Double Stampings..?

Boy, was I chasing up the wrong tree...

I heard from a knowledgable guy (aka "swissdaggers") in Switzerland the following :

+/M on M1882 Swiss revolvers does not mean Inspector Muhlemann. Rather an eariler inspector named "Mechel", whose work started around 1867.

The +/V on M1882 Swiss revolvers may or may not indicate Inspector Voglesang. It is unknown, for certainty.
