Stymie, I have several digital cameras (an el-cheapo one, then a Kodak that is 3 years old and just got a new one before the trip), and I am really happy with the Sony I just got, it is a CD-250, takes nice close ups, nice further away, although it likes plenty of light for nice closeups. Easy to use, others that have Sonys report that they like them.

A cheap one you will always regret, so it seems that anything over $300 and up, is a nice one, and then for most uses, up to $500 is a good one to buy? I imagine if you are looking for studio quality, then buy a more expensive one, but the mid-range is a good camera for our uses?
