Yes, it is true that Herr GÃ?Â¶rtz passed away last year. His knowledge of Lugers and their history is sadly missed by all.

I have never seen the other side of this type of sideplate... perhaps someone who has one can post a photograph of the mechanism behind the sideplate.

I am certain that possession of such a sideplate in the U.S. would fall under the National Firearms Act of 1934 because the device would be considered a machinegun, even if you didn't have possession of a Luger.
