If nothing else, you can have a barrel turned to fit as a liner to the base and the balance of it can be turned to look just like the real deal. It will make a great shooter. My suggestion is to first make it work, and then make it pretty. Just so you don't feel too bad, If I had $300 to gamble with, I would have done the same thing! regards, -John
