Default Re: Russian ammo question

I used Russian 9mm cartridges in my P7M8 with mixed results. First I used some cartridges with lacquered steel cases. I believe they were headstamped "TRW". They functioned well and were satisfactorily accurate.

Next I tried some unlacquered ammunition whose name I have unfortunately forgotten. Accuracy and extraction deteriorated. I could not keep 25 shots in a 5 diameter circle at 25 yds. But worse, I was unable to fire 2 magazines without a failure to extract. Usually there was one failure/magazine. The cartridges also left more gas system fouling than an commercial ammunition I tried.

This ammunition ended my P7â??s string of 5,127 rounds without any functioning failures, and consequently I regard it as unreliable for anything beyond â??plinkingâ?.
