All Mauser Lugers are numbered 1 through 9999 and then followed with 1 - 9999a followed by 1 - 9999b, 1- 9999c, 1- 9999d, etc. This included about four time through the alphabet.
For example the 1934 K-dates were no suffix 1 - 10,000 than 1a to about 1200a. the 1935 G-dates started here and went througn 9999a to 1b through 9999b 1c through
9999c, etc. Check out the serial number and suffix ranges, it's a great learning experience. Anyway this numbering and letter suffix continued until 1942. This included the 1936, 1937, 1938. 1939. 1940, 41 and 42 Lugers. As you can see there was a lot of 1, 2, and three digit nunmbers. There is always the exception. A few were numbered to 10,000 before they started over. I have seen K-date number 10,000.
