If the toggle articulates and slides easily in the receiver, the "S" hook is about the only missing "link".
![]() It may be twisted a little, sprung to too long, or the wrong one(a 1900 type). Especially if other toggles work.

I think you are correct, it does look a little out of shape. Too many little issues with this gun. Not good enought condition to spend much in parts since I found a broken firing pin and no hold open. thanks for your help
