Not on the same scale of being so close to numbers, but my 1940, my brother now has (in Owners Corner), has the same thing. Totally matched top and totally matched bottom. Appears to me to have the same bluing.
Either GI's sitting around (either side) were cleaning and put them togther wrong or in a huge area where guns were being checked for sale to the US, the wrong parts got swapped on or changed due to a problem with two diff guns?
